When Germantown's Farm and Flea Market Seasons Close, Where Does November Go?

Germantown's outdoor fall ends this weekend and next. Butler's Orchard's Pumpkin Festival runs its last day Sunday, November 1. The community flea market in the MARC lot runs its final market of the year the following Saturday. Then the weekend calendar moves almost entirely into one building at Germantown Town Center, BlackRock Center for the Arts at 12901 Town Commons Drive, and it stays there through Thanksgiving.

That handoff starts tonight. BlackRock's Local Spirits fundraiser is on the calendar for this evening, October 29. The program pairs farmers from Montgomery County's Agricultural Reserve with food matched to Song Dog Spirits, and the Seneca Creek Bluegrass Band is on the bill. Local farms are on the program in a stage building, a few days before the farm season ends. The rest of November follows the same pattern.

The outdoor calendar closes in stages

The lake closed first, and the farm and the flea market follow within a week of each other:

  1. Black Hill rental boats ended first. Montgomery Parks ran its last weekday rentals on Little Seneca Lake August 20 and 21, and weekend rentals ended at Labor Day, September 7.
  2. Butler's Orchard's 46th annual Pumpkin Festival has its last weekend Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1. The farm's festival page strongly encourages reservations and says sold-out days don't admit walk-ins, so a last-minute trip this weekend needs a ticket first.
  3. Public pontoon programs at Black Hill Discovery Center run from late April to early November, per Montgomery Parks.
  4. The Germantown Community Flea Market has its final market of the year Saturday, November 7.

Town Center already had its big outdoor day of the fall. Germantown October Fest filled October 10 with a free carnival, a business expo, an artisan market and food vendors, with Nappy Roots headlining, MoCo Show reported. When November starts, the open-air part of the season is behind it.

The last first Saturday in the MARC lot

The flea market is the outdoor fixture that lasts longest. It runs on the first Saturday of each month from April through November, which makes November 7 the eighth and final market of 2026. The event listing bills it as the largest flea market in Montgomery County, with more than 150 vendors when the weather holds, selling household goods, antiques, jewelry and electronics.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MARC rail parking lot near Bowman Mill Drive and Germantown Road. Admission and customer parking are free. Vendors pay $25 for a 10-by-10 space and have to arrive between 5:30 and 7 a.m.

The money stays local. The market benefits the Germantown Historical Society, the Button Farm Living History Center and Scout Troop 1325. If the morning looks wet, the cancellation decision is posted by 6 a.m. at 301-972-2707. After that, the lot goes back to commuters until spring.

Where the weekends go: one building on Town Commons Drive

Once the outdoor events are done, most of what's on Germantown's November calendar happens at BlackRock. Here's the month from November 2 to Thanksgiving, with ticket prices where the venue lists them:

Date Event at BlackRock Time Cost
Fri., Nov. 6 George Michael Reborn 8 p.m. $30 to $60 reserved, plus 4% fee
Wed., Nov. 11 ReelTalk screening of the 1964 film Lilith 7 p.m. Free
Sat., Nov. 14 BSO Presents Jazz It Up 10 a.m. $15 general admission, plus 4% fee
Sat., Nov. 14 Diwali Festival with Kuchipudi Dance Academy Noon Listed as a festival with food and vendors
Sat., Nov. 14 Monthly Artisans Market Noon to 4 p.m. Listed as a market
Sat., Nov. 21 Forever Ray: A Tribute to Ray Charles 7:30 p.m. $30 to $60 reserved, plus 4% fee

The galleries are open on days with nothing on the stage. Two exhibitions run through November, per BlackRock's visual arts page. Dean Kessmann's "if not obviously, then potentially" opened October 27 and runs through December 20. "It Happened Here: Remembering Three Lynchings," a memorial exhibition, is on view November 3 through 30 only.

The ReelTalk series is free, which makes the November 11 screening the easiest weeknight event of the month. BlackRock's fall classes also keep weekday activity going in the building between events.

November 14 is the fullest day of the month

Three of the month's events land on the same Saturday at the same address, with a morning concert followed by two events that both start at noon.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Jazz It Up starts at 10 a.m. with $15 general admission tickets. At noon, BlackRock welcomes back Kuchipudi Dance Academy for its Diwali Festival, with food, vendors, henna and dance performances. The Monthly Artisans Market opens at noon too and runs until 4 p.m.

The artisans market shows how the month is shifting. The handmade goods and browsing that filled outdoor tables at October Fest and in the MARC lot move indoors to BlackRock in mid-November, a week after the flea market's last day. For anyone shopping early for the holidays, November 14 is the Saturday when the morning concert, the Diwali performances and the market are all under one roof.

The places that stay open outside

Black Hill Regional Park. Rental boats are done for the year, but private boats can stay on Little Seneca Lake through December 15 with a permit, according to Montgomery Parks. The Discovery Center at 20926 Lake Ridge Drive has one more public event on the calendar before Thanksgiving. Its free Holiday Share Fair runs Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. People bringing items to give away need to register, and people just browsing don't. That Saturday also ends indoors. Forever Ray starts at BlackRock at 7:30 p.m., so you can do the lake in the morning and Town Center at night.

Seneca Creek State Park. The park sits at 11950 Clopper Road, just over the Gaithersburg line. It moves to winter hours of 10 a.m. to sunset from November through February, per the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The Boat Center rents only from May through Labor Day. Clopper Lake still allows private hand-launched watercraft year-round during park hours, which makes it the easiest local paddle once Little Seneca's rental season is over.

Butler's Orchard Farm Market. The festival ends November 1, but the farm's homepage still lists Farm Market hours of Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Mondays.

Coffee between stops, and what's still coming

One of the newest places to stop on a November weekend is Baraka Cafe, inside the Islamic Society of Germantown Community Center at 19825 Blunt Road. MoCo Show reported in September that the cafe serves specialty coffee, pastries and halal snacks, and is open to the public Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Proceeds support the mosque community. It stays open until 10 at night, so it works after any show on BlackRock's calendar, including Forever Ray on November 21.

A few restaurants were still on the announced list as of late summer. MoCo Show's August 18 roundup listed Biryani Grill as coming to 13038 Middlebrook Road and Kusshi Sushi as coming to the former Zane Japanese Eatery space. That article also said Sakura Go was expected to open over the summer at 20940-B Frederick Road. Before planning a dinner around any of them, check each restaurant's own channels.

Knowing which Saturday the flea market ends and which one fills BlackRock is the same kind of local detail that shapes a home's value. If you're thinking about what your Germantown home could be worth before the spring listing season, The AG Group can prepare a Complimentary Home Valuation built on what's actually happening near you.
